Pupil Premium, Sports Grant and Swimming

All schools receive funding called Pupil Premium, which relates to the number of pupils on Free School Meals, in order to narrow the gap towards national expectations and give all students the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Although all students in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 now get Universal Free School Meals, schools only receive the Pupil Premium funding if parents or carers are registered for Free School Meals. Please ask at the office for advice.

Pupil Premium

All schools in England receive £1,345 per eligible student. During this academic year, they include: students currently on Free School Meals (FSM), students who have received FSM within the last 6 years (Ever6), students who are looked after (CLA) and children of service personnel.

Further details can be found via the following linked document in the attachments below.

Sports Grant

The Government’s vision for PE and school sport, supported by the national partners is:

"All pupils leaving primary school physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport."

The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their students.

Further details can be found via the attachments below.

Swimming

The government requires schools to report on the number of students who met the national swimming requirements. At Dixons Manningham we teach swimming in Year 4, 65% of our students met the appropriate standards.

National Curriculum requirements for swimming and water safety:

  • swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 meters
  • use a range of strokes effectively
  • perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
